Profile of Santhwanam
‘Santhwanam’ (Reg. No. 299/IV/2011) was instituted by
H.G. Mar Andrews Thazhath, Metropolitan Archbishop of Trichur vide the Decree
No. 435/02-02-2010. It acts as the secretariat of social apostolate of the
Archdiocese of Trichur by way of co-ordinating the various social service wings
and charitable activities of the Archdiocese.
As the prime centre of the social service activities of the Thrissur
district, Santhwanam spreads its wings in the various realms like relief,
welfare, economic development, social justice etc., in collaboration with the
central/state Govt. agencies, departments and foreign agencies by way of
implementing various welfare projects and programmes effectively. We cater to
weaker and vulnerable sections irrespective of caste, creed and community.
As part of environmental protection, we propagate and
carryout promotion of natural power resources and undertake projects of
non-conventional energy. We also have ‘Go Green’ project that concentrates on
waste separation and management etc.
